Itinerary
The Riviera del Brenta is the urban and historical landscape, distributed along the "Naviglio del Brenta", the old bed of the Brenta Vecchia, the river Brenta to Stra which begins and ends at Fusina in Venice lagoon, involving countries of Stra , Fiesso d'Artico, Dolo, Fossa, Mira, Oriago and Malcontenta.
The stream of the canal played an important role as a communication link between the lagoon of Venice and Padua. The area is characterized by the presence of many villas built between the sixteenth and the eighteenth century by the Venetian noble families, testifying to the power aristrocratica period. At that time, the Riviera was achieved only by moving the boat, while the existing roads were built later.
Venetian nobles were transported on the river by a boat called Burchiello pulled from the banks by men, oxen and horses, while the goods were carried by boats called Burch. Even today, the cruise along the Brenta Riviera is a tourist attraction.
